Lady of the Lake quilt block tutorial use yardage, however all the pieces were less than 10″ so I decided I would use one of my layer cakes (I might just have a few ‘laying’ about!!) and chose Sweetwater’s The Cookie Exchange. Have you heard of the Lady Of The Lake quilt block? The traditional patchwork design is typically sewn with only two contrasting fabrics. Two sizes of half square triangle units are used to make the quilt block. You can also create scrap quilt blocks if you want to, just make sure to choose contrasting colors so that the pattern emerges.
This quilt block tutorial was named after a poem by Sir Walter Scott, published in 1810. The pioneer men and women loved the tales of Sir Walter Scott, and the women honored him by naming a patchwork block after the poem. The earliest quilted Lady of the Lake block appeared in 1820. This is one of the few quilt blocks that has never been known by another name! Keep the tradition alive and quilt your own version of this gorgeous block today! Happy quilting, friends![et_bloom_inline optin_id=optin_8]
